Louis Vuitton Neverfull or the Goyard Saint Louis a Better Everyday Tote?  

The Louis Vuitton Neverfull and the Goyard Saint Louis have a lot in common – both are iconic luxury bags, both designed to carry a lot and have become a fashion staple. But still, they have very different personalities.  

The difference comes down to one crucial thing: what do you want from your everyday tote  

The Louis Vuitton Neverfull: It can be described as structure meets utility.  

The Neverfull has more of a workbag feel than a traditional soft shopping tote.  

It gives you a little more control over what you're carrying — an interior pocket, removable pouch, side laces and a top clasp all add functionality to what is otherwise a simple tote silhouette. The bag is available in four sizes – BB, PM, MM and GM. 

It is also recognised more of the two. The Monogram canvas is one of the most familiar symbols of luxury, which makes Louis Vuitton Neverfull instantly recognisable. The Neverfull makes most sense as a work tote.  

For me, this is where it makes the most sense: the office.  The Neverfull is designed to fit all of your everyday essentials while still looking structured - Laptop, notebook, charger, wallet, water bottle and all the things that somehow end up in your work bag.  

It isn't completely structured, but compared with Saint Louis, it feels more controlled and polished.  

The Goyard Saint Louis: Defines why less is more  

The Saint Louis is almost the opposite in every aspect. The bag is designed to be minimal, lightweight and its more flexible compared to the Neverfull. It's fully effortless, and you don't have to organise everything you keep. You can simply put your things in and go. And that makes it appropriate for everyday errands as well as travel. You can also pack it up and take it on the trip with you as it folds completely flat. The bag comes in three sizes PM, GM and XXL. 

The Saint Louis has been around since long before the Neverfull, but its understated approach feels particularly relevant today.  

While the Neverfull is instantly recognisable, Goyard communicates luxury in a quieter way.  

Giving more of an “if you know, you know” signal.  

And that quiet luxury is getting noticed  

The Saint Louis is an understated luxury, but the interest of the younger generation is growing.  

It has become Gen Z’s most aspirational purchase. According to The Row, on Fashionophile, searches for Saint Louis have increased by 400%. Also, Vogue highlighted Saint Louis’s strong resale performance.  

So, which one is the better tote?  

I don't think there is a universal winner.  

The Neverfull is better if you want structure, organisation and an everyday work tote.  

The Saint Louis is better if you value lightness, flexibility and effortless travel.  

Two bags. Similar purpose. Completely different design philosophies.  

And that's what makes the comparison interesting.
